How we source facts

Appliance wattages come from published manufacturer charts (Honda, Champion) and are marked approximate; third-party home-lab figures are marked as estimates. Safety and food-safety statements cite CDC and FoodSafety.gov. Every row in the wattage chart links to its source, and the methodology is stated on that page.

Facts, estimates and assumptions

We separate sourced facts from estimates. Anything that is our own assumption or a rough planning figure is labeled as such on the page, and calculator assumptions can be changed by you.

Who writes and reviews content

The calculators and guides on this site are based on manufacturer specifications and public guidance, and I review them before they are published. Drafting is assisted by AI tools; the numbers, defaults and recommendations are checked by me, and I fix errors when readers report them. This site does not currently contain affiliate links. I may add them in the future; if I do, I will disclose them clearly on the disclosure page, in the footer and next to each link, and affiliate relationships will not influence which products I recommend or how the calculators work. Estimates are general guidance, not electrical advice.

Corrections

If you find an error, email contact@poweroutageplan.com with the page and a source. We correct confirmed errors and update the page’s modified date.

Advertising and affiliate independence

This site does not currently carry advertising or affiliate links. If that changes we will say so on the disclosure page before links go live. See also the disclosure.

Safety and professional advice

Content is general planning information, not electrical, engineering, medical or safety advice. Have a licensed electrician handle permanent generator connections, follow manufacturer instructions, run generators outdoors, and do not rely on this site for life-support power planning.
